A 30-year-old pragia driver, Akolbila Blessings, popularly known as Jah Bless, from Dulugo in the Bolgatanga East District of the Upper East Region, has reportedly been beaten to death over an alleged GH¢1,500 sales debt.

According to a family member, Aduko Apognire, the incident occurred on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, after Blessings allegedly failed to meet his daily sales target.

The family alleges that the owner of the vehicle, Nsopika Atuah, popularly known as “Apika”, arrived with three other men to confront the driver over the alleged debt.

A resident reportedly attempted to intervene and offered GH¢800 towards repayment of the amount, but the offer was allegedly rejected.

The four men reportedly told the resident that they were taking Blessings to a health facility. However, the family claims that he was instead taken to another location, where the alleged assault continued.

In the early hours of Thursday, the family reportedly found Blessings dead in his room.

The incident was subsequently reported to the Bolgatanga East District Police, while the deceased’s body was conveyed to the mortuary of the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital.

The Police have confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing.

The four suspects are reportedly at large, with the Police continuing efforts to locate and apprehend them to assist with investigations into the circumstances surrounding Blessings’ death.
