Give grieving workers time to heal – Rev. Boateng

Rev. Benjamin Boateng urges youth to correct misplaced priorities and reclaim their future
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Rev. Benjamin Boateng has urged employers to give workers who are grieving some time off to cope with their loss, depending on the nature and severity of the situation.

Speaking on Nyansapo Fie on Plan B FM with host Akosua Gyamfua, Rev. Boateng explained that a grieving worker may not be mentally or emotionally present at work, even when physically present, making it difficult for the person to perform effectively.

He advised employers to consider granting temporary leave, ranging from a few days to a week or more, depending on the circumstances.

He noted that giving employees time to grieve can benefit both the worker and the organisation by allowing the individual to recover before returning to their full responsibilities.

Rev. Boateng also stressed the importance of emotional intelligence when dealing with grief. He explained that people may not always be fully aware of how they behave or respond while grieving, making patience and understanding important.

He further advised grieving individuals to manage their workload and avoid unnecessary pressure during such periods.

He also cautioned drivers against distractions, such as using their phones while driving, stressing the need to remain focused and emotionally aware when behind the wheel.
