Abrema May urges parents and teachers to be mindful of their words

Words spoken at home and in school can have a lasting influence on children, making it important for parents and teachers to be mindful of how they communicate with them, Abrema May has said.

Speaking on managing a loose talker at home, school and church on Nyansapo Fie, Plan B FM’s family, relationship and lifestyle programme, hosted by Akosua Gyamfua, Abrema May noted that careless speech can cost people a great deal, stressing that not everything that is true needs to be said.

She encouraged parents to learn when to speak and when to remain silent, while also being conscious of the people present during conversations. She cautioned against discussing personal issues in front of children and urged parents to consistently speak positively into their lives. She added that seeking favour from someone could also lead a person into loose talk.

Turning to the school environment, Abrema May urged teachers to use encouraging words when addressing pupils rather than speaking negatively about them. She stressed the importance of showing children love and teaching them good character.

She further emphasised that both parents and teachers have a responsibility to be mindful of the words they use around children, as positive communication can help shape their behaviour and character.
