Choices made for immediate pleasure without considering their long-term effects can lead to problems at home, school and church, Rev. Samuel Manful has cautioned.
Speaking on Nyansapo Fie, Plan B FM’s family, relationship and lifestyle programme hosted by Akosua Gyamfua. The guest, Rev. Manful described short-sightedness as the unwillingness to consider the long-term effects of decisions and choices, with a preference for immediate satisfaction.
He explained that people who are short-sighted often choose what feels good in the moment without considering what could go wrong later. He added that such behaviour reflects a failure to exercise wisdom and self-control when making decisions.
Rev. Manful also emphasised the importance of spiritual discernment, urging people to think carefully about their actions and their possible consequences. He noted that the tongue is one of the most powerful gifts God has given humanity, highlighting the need for people to be mindful of what they say.
He further identified peer pressure as a factor that can influence people to make unwise decisions, particularly when they prioritise acceptance or immediate enjoyment over sound judgement. In the church, he cautioned against gossip, which can affect relationships and create division among members.
Rev. Manful encouraged people to think beyond the present and consider the future consequences of their words, actions and decisions, stressing that wisdom and self-control are essential in avoiding short-sightedness at home, school and church.
