Short-sighted decisions can threaten marriages — Muhammed Hussain Acquah

Managing pretence in marriage requires addressing real issues — Muhammed Hussain Acquah
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Muhammed Hussain Acquah has cautioned couples against making marital decisions based on immediate emotions and personal interests without considering their long-term effects on the relationship.

Speaking on Nyansapo Fie on Plan B FM, hosted by Akosua Gyamfua, he described short-sightedness as choosing what feels good in the present without considering the pain or consequences that may follow. He explained that such decisions can affect marriages, romantic relationships and friendships.

Mr. Acquah identified family and in-law interference as one area where short-sightedness can occur, particularly when individuals prioritise pleasing their parents or relatives over protecting their marriages. He urged couples to consider how their decisions might affect their relationships in the years ahead.

He stressed that marriage requires long-term thinking rather than decisions driven solely by present circumstances or the desire to satisfy others. According to him, pleasing family members in the moment at the expense of one’s marriage could create lasting problems for the couple.

Mr. Acquah encouraged individuals to weigh the long-term consequences of their choices before acting, warning that short-sightedness can cause people to lose something valuable in exchange for temporary benefits. He emphasised the importance of prioritising the future stability of a marriage when making significant decisions.
