NDC’s Christian Tetteh urges Ghanaians to let evidence, not speculation, drive Justice

Deputy Speakers Can Vote While Presiding In Parliament – Supreme Court Rules

National Democratic Congress (NDC) member Christian Tetteh has called for greater respect for due process, urging Ghanaians to allow the courts to determine criminal cases based on evidence rather than public opinion or political narratives.

Speaking on EBAANOSEN on Plan B FM, hosted by Adomba De-Starboy, Mr. Tetteh warned against prematurely declaring individuals guilty while investigations or court proceedings are still ongoing.

He stressed that allegations of criminal conduct must be backed by credible evidence and subjected to proper judicial scrutiny before conclusions are drawn.

According to him, investigations must be conducted professionally and independently, with authorities relying on verifiable facts and documented information rather than speculation or political considerations.

Mr. Tetteh made the remarks during a heated discussion on the programme, where he challenged claims he considered speculative and urged panelists to distinguish between allegations, evidence and established facts.

He maintained that public commentary on active criminal matters must be measured, arguing that excessive media discussions and premature conclusions could undermine the fairness of judicial proceedings.

Mr. Tetteh also cited previous allegations involving former Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame, saying the intense public debate surrounding the matter demonstrated the need for controversial issues to be subjected to the appropriate legal processes rather than determined through media exchanges.

He insisted that every accused person deserves a fair hearing and should only be considered guilty after a competent court has examined the evidence and delivered its judgment.

Mr. Tetteh ultimately urged the public to protect the credibility of Ghana’s justice system by respecting the presumption of innocence and allowing courts to independently determine guilt or innocence.

He said justice must be anchored in evidence, fairness and the rule of law—not speculation, political interests or public pressure.
