A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sam Anoon, says Ghanaians have renewed confidence in the country’s security services under the current government.
His comments come on the back of Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang’s call for the Ministry of the Interior and its agencies to prioritise public education, strengthen public trust, and invest in human resource development to enhance Ghana’s internal security architecture.
During a working visit to the Ministry of the Interior on Monday, July 13, the Vice President stressed that the effectiveness of the country’s security institutions depends not only on legislation and law enforcement but also on the confidence citizens have in the agencies responsible for their safety.
“As members of the Ministry of the Interior, you hold our lives. You ensure we are safe. Without safety, there isn’t much we can do,” she told the ministry’s leadership and staff.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nkosuo Nsem with Kofi Sekyi, Sam Anoon said civic education by state institutions under the NDC administration has been effective, contributing significantly to increased public trust in Ghana’s security services. He maintained that sustained public engagement and education remain essential to strengthening the relationship between citizens and the country’s security agencies.
