Former Energy Minister and former NPP presidential aspirant, Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, has congratulated John Boadu on his election as National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr Agyarko also extended his congratulations to all newly elected national executives following the party’s National Delegates Conference held in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
In a statement issued on Sunday, October 4, Mr Agyarko said the outcome of the election reaffirmed the NPP’s democratic tradition, internal vitality and commitment to the future of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition.
He wished Mr Boadu wisdom, strength and success as he assumes responsibility for steering the affairs of the party.
Mr Agyarko also expressed gratitude to his campaign team, volunteers, constituency chairpersons, constituency executives and delegates who supported his campaign during the internal contest.
He described the contest as a family affair rather than a battle between opponents, stressing that the NPP itself had emerged as the ultimate winner.
“Today, there are no individual victors or vanquished – it is the New Patriotic Party that has emerged victorious,” he said.
Mr Agyarko called for unity and reconciliation within the party, arguing that the challenges facing Ghana and the NPP require members to close ranks and present a united front.
He subsequently pledged his full support to Mr Boadu, the newly elected national executives and the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to him, the NPP’s primary objective remains securing what he described as a “total, decisive victory” in the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
“I stand fully and resolutely ready to support Chairman John Boadu, the entire newly elected National Executive Committee, and our Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” Mr Agyarko stated.
He further commended the NPP National Elections Committee, the Electoral Commission of Ghana and the security services for overseeing what he described as a smooth, transparent and peaceful election.
Mr Agyarko urged party members to remain united, disciplined and committed to the party’s return to government in 2028.
