Ghana’s drive towards industrial transformation and job creation is set to receive a major boost with the official commissioning of the Northshore Apparel Hub, a wholly Ghanaian-owned apparel manufacturing facility in Savelugu in the Northern Region.
The facility, funded by the Ghana Export-Import Bank (Ghana EXIM Bank) and other partners and developed by Northshore Apparel Ghana Limited, will be officially opened on Friday, August 28, 2026, by President John Dramani Mahama as part of efforts to accelerate industrial growth under the government’s 24-hour economy initiative.
The first phase of the project is expected to create 3,000 jobs upon commissioning, with employment projected to increase to 10,000 jobs when the facility reaches full operational capacity.
The commissioning ceremony will also be attended by the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, and the Chief Executive of Ghana EXIM Bank, Sylvester Adinam Mensah.
Speaking ahead of the commissioning, Ghana EXIM Boss, Sylvester Adinam Mensah, described the project as a landmark investment that demonstrates the power of local capital in driving national development.
“The Northshore Apparel Hub represents the vision of a Ghana that produces, exports, and creates opportunities for its people. This investment reflects Ghana EXIM Bank’s commitment to supporting businesses that generate jobs, strengthen local industry, and position Ghana as a competitive manufacturing and export destination.”
He added that the project aligns with the Bank’s mandate to support export-oriented industries while contributing to inclusive economic growth.
“We are proud to have partnered with Northshore Apparel Ghana to bring this transformative initiative to life. The thousands of jobs being created here will directly impact families, communities, and the broader economy.”
He noted that Ghana EXIM Bank’s five-year strategic plan places a strong emphasis on investments in key sectors, including rice production, poultry farming, and garment and apparel manufacturing.
According to him, the commissioning of the Northshore Apparel Hub is a tangible demonstration of the Bank’s commitment to expanding exports, strengthening local production, and creating sustainable job opportunities for Ghana’s youth.

The Chief Executive Officer of Northshore Apparel Ghana Limited, Nurideen Mohammed, said the opening of the facility marks a significant milestone for indigenous enterprise and industrial development in northern Ghana.
“The Northshore Apparel Hub is proof that Ghanaian-owned businesses can undertake large-scale industrial projects capable of competing on the global stage. Our goal is not only to create jobs but also to build a world-class apparel manufacturing ecosystem that serves local and international markets.”
The Northshore CEO noted that the company intends to leverage the facility’s strategic location and production capacity to support Ghana’s export ambitions while contributing to skills development and economic empowerment.

The project is expected to contribute significantly to Ghana’s industrialization agenda by expanding apparel production, boosting exports, and creating sustainable employment opportunities.
The official commissioning ceremony will take place at the Northshore Apparel Hub in Savelugu, near Tamale, beginning at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 28, 2026.
With thousands of jobs expected to be generated and further opportunities anticipated across the apparel value chain, stakeholders say the project stands as a strong example of how strategic local investment can transform communities and drive national economic growth.
