The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has pledged to donate US$250,000 (approximately GH¢3 million) to support victims of Ghana’s recent devastating floods.
In a press statement issued on August 2, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it had been officially notified by ECOWAS of the donation, describing the gesture as an act of solidarity with those affected by the disaster.
The Ministry assured the public that, in the interest of transparency and accountability, the full amount would be handed over immediately after the funds are received into the government’s accounts.
The Government of Ghana also expressed its profound appreciation to ECOWAS for the support, commending the regional bloc for demonstrating “solidarity and true African compassion” during a difficult period.
The donation is expected to contribute to relief efforts aimed at assisting communities impacted by the recent floods across the country.
