WAFCON 2026: Black Queens fall to Cameroon in Group D clash

WAFCON 2026: Black Queens fall to Cameroon in Group D clash
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Ghana’s Black Queens suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Cameroon in their second Group D match at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), denting their hopes of securing an early place in the knockout stage.

The Black Queens were undone by a first-half penalty converted by Marie Ngah in the 19th minute after Cameroon were awarded a spot kick. Despite creating chances and enjoying spells of possession, Ghana were unable to find an equaliser as the Indomitable Lionesses held on to claim all three points.

The defeat leaves the Black Queens with work to do heading into their final Group D fixture, where they will be aiming to secure the result needed to keep their quarter-final hopes alive.

Cameroon, meanwhile, boosted their qualification prospects with the victory, taking a significant step towards the knockout phase of the competition.
