Asante Kotoko came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Medeama SC in their Ghana Premier League Matchday Nine encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The two sides scored through powerful headers, with Usman Safianu putting Medeama ahead before Kotoko captain Musah Hamzarat restored parity in the second half.
Medeama broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute when Safianu rose highest to head home, rewarding the visitors for their impressive first-half display.
The Mauve and Yellow carried their advantage into the break, leaving the hosts with work to do in the second half.
Kotoko returned from the interval with greater urgency as they pushed for an equaliser in front of their home supporters.
Their efforts paid off in the 55th minute when captain Hamzarat connected with a well-worked set-piece routine, powering a header into the net to bring the Porcupine Warriors back into the contest.
The equaliser sparked renewed energy at Baba Yara as Kotoko pushed for a winner, while Medeama also sought to regain their lead.
However, neither side could find the breakthrough, with the encounter ending in a 1-1 stalemate.
The result means Medeama missed the opportunity to strengthen their position at the top of the league table, while Kotoko were left to settle for a point on home soil after recovering from a first-half deficit.
Both sides will now turn their attention to their next league fixtures as the Ghana Premier League campaign continues.
