Ampem Darkoa Ladies have qualified for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League after defeating Nigeria’s Edo Queens 1-0 in the rescheduled WAFU Zone B qualifying final in Cairo, Egypt.
The Ghanaian champions scored in extra time to secure victory after the original encounter ended 2-2 in regulation time on September 5 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
Edo Queens had initially won 4-1 on penalties, but the Confederation of African Football (CAF) annulled the result after upholding a protest by Ampem Darkoa over the failure to play the required extra time before the penalty shootout.
CAF’s Organising Committee for Women’s Football ruled on September 26 that the match should resume from the beginning of extra time. The decision was subsequently upheld by the CAF Appeal Board on October 16.
The victory earns the Techiman-based side the WAFU Zone B slot at the continental competition, which is scheduled to take place in Egypt from November 1 to 15, 2026.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies have been drawn in Group B alongside defending champions AS FAR of Morocco, Kawempe Muslim Ladies of Uganda and USFAS Bamako of Mali.
