Ministry of Finance approves payment of 10 months’ salary arrears for Judicial Service staff

The Ministry of Finance has approved the payment of 10 months’ salary and allowance arrears for staff of the Judicial Service and members of the Lower Court Bench.

According to a letter dated November 2, 2026, the arrears follow the implementation of new conditions of service approved by President John Dramani Mahama, effective January 1, 2026, pursuant to Article 149 of the 1992 Constitution.

The Ministry indicated that the arrears will be paid in two instalments, covering a total of 10 months.

Under the approved payment schedule, five months’ arrears, covering January to May 2026, will be paid in November 2026.

The remaining five months, covering June to October 2026, will be paid in December 2026.

The Ministry said the approval forms part of government’s resolve to prevent the accumulation of salary arrears.

The Controller and Accountant-General has consequently been directed to give effect to the approval.

The letter was copied to the Chief Justice, the Deputy Minister of Finance, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Finance, the Auditor-General and the Judicial Secretary, among other officials.
