CAGD begins payment of salary arrears for Education and Health workers

Gov’t Has Instructed CAGD To Release ¢50m To WAEC – MP

The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has assured education and health workers affected by salary arrears dating back to August 2024 that payments will be made according to schedule.

In a press release dated May 26, 2026, the department announced that the payment process has already commenced and will be completed in line with an approved payment plan.

According to the schedule outlined by the CAGD, affected workers will receive arrears in four-month tranches over a four-month period from May to August 2026.

The breakdown is as follows:

  • May – 4 months arrears
  • June – 4 months arrears
  • July – 4 months arrears
  • August – 4 months arrears

The department noted that the first tranche payment is expected to be completed by Friday, May 29, 2026.

CAGD further stated that the remaining payments would be made in accordance with the approved schedule and thanked all affected beneficiaries for their patience and forbearance.

The statement was signed by Cephas N. Dosoo, Head of Public Relations, for the Controller and Accountant-General.
