The Ghana Grid Company LTD. has announced that it will carry out emergency maintenance works at the Smelter II Substation in Tema on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

According to a press statement issued by the company, the exercise forms part of efforts to improve power supply reliability and strengthen the resilience of Ghana’s electricity transmission network.

GRIDCo indicated that the maintenance works will take place between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., during which some customers and residents in parts of Tema are expected to experience temporary power outages.

The company apologised for the inconvenience the exercise may cause and assured affected customers that engineers and technical teams will work swiftly to complete the maintenance and restore electricity supply within the shortest possible time.

GRIDCo further appealed to the public for understanding and cooperation as it undertakes the essential maintenance works.

The company, which manages Ghana’s National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS), is responsible for the transmission of electricity from wholesale suppliers to bulk customers and distribution utilities across Ghana and parts of West Africa.
