Presenting the case, Chief Inspector Owusu Kobi Moses told the court that the complainant, Nana Serwaa, a 48-year-old fetish priestess at Baamang near Bonwire, was attacked at her shrine under violent circumstances.
According to the prosecution, on December 28, 2025, at about 7:20 p.m., the complainant was in the shrine with her 13-year-old grandson, Emmanuel Oppong Danso, and a five-year-old girl, Maafia, when Kofi Adu entered and claimed he was searching for his sick sister, who he alleged was receiving herbal treatment there. The complainant denied any knowledge of such a patient.
Angered by her response, Kofi Adu summoned his accomplices, who stormed the shrine armed with machetes and a pistol. They subjected the complainant to physical assault and forced her to open a room where her sacred items were kept. The attackers ransacked the room and made away with GH¢7,600.00 in cash. Kofi Adu further seized the complainant’s mobile phone and, under threat, compelled her to disclose her Mobile Money (MoMo) PIN, enabling the transfer of GH¢1,200.00 to an undisclosed number.

The robbers warned the complainant against reporting the incident before fleeing the scene. She nonetheless reported the matter to the Baamang Police, who launched investigations but were initially unable to locate the suspects.
Between April 24 and April 27, 2026, a Police NOD Surveillance Team conducted a special operation across Asotwe, Donaso, Onwe Nkwanta, and surrounding communities. The operation led to the arrest of Kofi Adu on April 29, 2026, at about 11:55 a.m. A search of his residence uncovered machetes, a vehicle number plate GN 886-19, and assorted mobile phones. He subsequently assisted police in apprehending the remaining accused persons from their hideouts.
Efforts are ongoing to arrest a fourth suspect, identified as Edem Ayigbe, who remains at large. The court also ordered the prosecution to release the retrieved mobile phone to its rightful owner.
