A fuel tanker carrying 54,000 litres of petrol has crashed into a garage at Ridge, near Plux 2 Pub, in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday, April 16, 2026, destroyed more than 15 vehicles. No casualties were recorded.

The crash has left the garage owner counting his losses, as the vehicles destroyed had been displayed for sale along the roadside.

Firefighters from the Kumasi Kejetia Fire Station and the Ashanti Regional Fire Headquarters responded promptly to bring the situation under control and prevent a possible fire outbreak or explosion.

Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service who arrived at the scene carried out cooling operations to eliminate any risk of ignition and secure the area.
