The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has met members of the Ghana women’s national football team to reassure them amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

The Black Queens are currently in the United Arab Emirates as part of their preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, and the GFA says it has been in constant communication with the relevant authorities over the past 24 to 48 hours.

According to the association, engagements have taken place with Ghana’s diplomatic mission in the UAE, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and security advisors as efforts continue to assess the situation and determine the appropriate steps.

Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, have both contacted the team to offer the government’s support.

The GFA has appealed for calm from the public and says it will provide further updates should there be any significant developments.
