Accra Hearts of Oak have officially withdrawn from the 2026 Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Top-4 Tournament, citing clashes between the competition’s scheduled dates and the club’s existing programmes.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the club explained that the tournament’s proximity to the commencement of the new league season would also create challenges for its preparations and other commitments.
According to Hearts of Oak, the club had earlier engaged GHALCA and requested a change in the tournament dates to make it possible for the Phobians to participate. However, the request did not result in a change to the schedule.
After considering the circumstances, the club said it had decided that withdrawing from the competition was the most appropriate course of action.
Hearts of Oak expressed appreciation to GHALCA for its efforts in organising the 2026 Top-4 Tournament and wished the association and the participating clubs a successful competition.
The club also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a cordial relationship and continued collaboration with GHALCA and the wider Ghanaian football community.
