Hundreds of shops, vehicles destroyed in Sofoline Magazine fire

Fire Guts Mile 7 Market In Accra

A devastating fire swept through Sofoline Magazine in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region on Sunday evening, destroying hundreds of shops and mechanic workshops and causing extensive property damage.

The blaze, which broke out around 7:00 p.m., rapidly engulfed several structures within the busy commercial enclave, consuming workshops, vehicles undergoing repairs, and large quantities of spare parts, tools, and other valuables.

Fire tenders from the Ghana National Fire Service responded promptly and managed to bring the inferno under control, successfully preventing it from spreading to nearby properties and residential areas.

Although no injuries or deaths were recorded, the incident has left many mechanics and shop owners devastated, as livelihoods built over years were reduced to ashes within hours.

Authorities have since launched investigations to determine the cause of the fire, while affected traders appeal for support as they begin assessing the extent of their losses.
