GNFS leads 7-hour Rescue Operation After Building Collapse Near Airport Terminal 3

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) led a rescue operation on Thursday, June 20, 2025, after a building under construction collapsed near Terminal 3 of the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.

According to a statement issued by the GNFS, the incident occurred at 3:36 PM. Seven people were involved.

Before the arrival of emergency teams, three victims were rescued by members of the public.

GNFS personnel rescued two others, and two more were retrieved from the rubble. One of the victims later died at the hospital.

The operation lasted seven hours and was carried out in collaboration with other relevant agencies, workers at the site, and the management of the facility. The scene was secured to prevent any further risk.

GNFS reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property through timely and professional emergency response.
