Fire safety education is set to be incorporated into Ghana’s new basic school curriculum to equip pupils with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent fires and respond appropriately to emergencies, ADO1 C.Y. Amoah has disclosed.
He made this known while discussing fire safety on Nyansapo Fie, Plan B FM’s family, relationship and lifestyle programme hosted by Akosua Gyamfua.
According to ADO1 Amoah, the initiative seeks to expose pupils to fire safety principles from an early age, helping them understand fire prevention measures and the appropriate steps to take during emergencies.
He stressed that fire safety education plays a crucial role in protecting lives and property, noting that equipping children with the necessary knowledge would help promote responsible behaviour and improve emergency preparedness.
ADO1 Amoah also underscored the need for sustained public education on fire prevention, urging institutions to invite personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service to deliver practical fire safety lessons.
He expressed optimism that integrating fire safety education into the basic school curriculum would promote a stronger safety-conscious culture among pupils and better prepare them to respond responsibly to fire emergencies.
