FIFA U20WWC: Sports Ministry settles Black Princesses outstanding bonuses

FIFA U20WWC: Sports Ministry settles Black Princesses outstanding bonuses
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Ghana’s under 20 female national team, the Black Princesses, have received outstanding bonuses owed them by the Sports Ministry.

Each member of the Black Princesses has been owed $6,000 for the three qualifying rounds of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, since January this year.

Earlier this year, women’s football representative on the Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council, Gifty Oware-Mensah, promised that the girls would receive the monies before the start of the African Games in March, but that did not happen.

However, after months of waiting, Plan B Sports sources can confirm that the Sports Ministry has settled the outstanding payments, albeit a reviewed amount of $4,500 each.

The Black Princesses are currently preparing to represent Ghana for the 7th straight time at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Columbia, beginning on August 31.

Ghana has been paired alongside Japan, Austria and New Zeland in Group E, as the Princesses attempt to qualify from the group stages for the first time.
