The Otinor Mantse Nii Afotey Botwe II who doubles as Presiding member of the Nungua counsel has said that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was a great man who did well for Ghana and Africa during his tenure.

Speaking on the holiday edition of Plan B FM morning show NKOSUONSEM with Nana Yaw Abrompah, he said, Nkrumah’s administration was primarily socialist as well as nationalist. It funded national industrial and energy projects, developed a strong national education system, and promoted a pan-Africanist culture.

He said under Nkrumah, Ghana played a leading role in African international relations during the decolonization period.

Nkrumah’s vision for the future of Africa was demonstrated by his futuristic projects in his nation of Ghana.

Nii Afotey Botwe stressed that Kwame Nkrumah came for a purpose and built the Adomi Bridge, the Akosombo Dam, the self-sufficient industrial city of Tema built around the Tema harbor, and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Kanda Estates Komenda Sugar Factory, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (Expanding the Capacity by Constructing the Medical, Maternity, Surgical and Child Health Blocks), Kumasi Central Hospital (Now Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital).

“The sad reality is that we have destroyed what Kwame Nkrumah did and it’s a great loss to our dear country.” he added.
