#FixTheCountry activists have confirmed that convener Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor has been allowed access to his lawyers.

There were initial reports that he was nowhere to be found by relatives and friends after he was picked up at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) upon his return from the UK on Friday, February 11.

But the police responded that, as mentioned earlier in a statement, the legal practitioner was arrested by the Tema Regional Police Command and have made contact with his family.

Taking to #FixTheCountry’s Facebook page on Saturday, February 12, member Felicity Nelson stated that the embattled Barker-Vormawor “has been on a hunger strike since he was accosted and detained yesterday, Friday, 11th February, 2022, by unidentified armed men”.

Felicity Nelson also disclosed that four other members were earlier picked up by the Ashaiman police but have since been released.

The police indicated in a statement that the #FixTheCountry convener was picked up for allegedly writing on social media that he would topple the government if the controversial e-levy bill is passed.

“Mr Oliver Baker-Vormawor has been arrested by the Tema Regional Police Command following a post he allegedly made on social media platforms to the effect that he would stage himself if the e-levy bill is passed by Parliament,” portion of the police’s statement said.
