Mr Ekow Gyan, an educationist, has criticized the Akufo-Addo government for not doing enough for the educational sector since they came to power in 2017.
In an interview wth Bohyeba Afriyie, on Plan B FM Ebaanosen, Mr. Gyan said that, teaching is one of the most sacrificial service one can ever render yet teachers here in Ghana are the least respected and the least paid.
He indicated that Education is one of the things that speeds up the development process of a country and a nation with high illiteracy rate is a threat to its development.
He also said that teachers are the most denied of their various allowances and all that action boils down to the disrespect the government has for teaching as a profession.
Mr. Gyan described President Akufo-Addo’s recent comment in which he said teachers cannot be millionaires as gross disrespect to teachers.
He concluded that teachers should not resume their services if they don’t see any effective result from their strike action. He added that, they should learn how to sacrifice their salaries for a long term result.
In conclusion, he urge the government to heed to the concerns of the Teacher Unions to bring an end to the continues strike action.
