Police in Wakiso is investigating circumstances under which an 18- year- old boy called time on his life under unclear circumstances on Monday.

The deceased is Emmanuel Okello, a senior four student at Makerere College School and a resident of Parliament village- Kitukutwe, Kiwologoma, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.

Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson says preliminary reports indicate that the deceased locked his father identified as Moses Opio, in the house before he committed suicide outside.

Owoyesigyire says prior to his death Okello asked jis father to send him back to his old school instead of admitting him into a new school but Opio didn’t listen. He says Okello waited for Opio to take his siblings to school to commit the gruesome act on his life.

Opio told police that the deceased had informed them that he was no longer interested in going back to his former school, Makerere College.

“While his siblings had been taken to school, the victim locked his father inside the house and committed suicide in the compound. The father even got him a position at St Kizito SS Namugongo, but he wasn’t happy about the choice.
The father suspects it could be the cause if the suicide.”

He says the body of the deceased has been taken to the morgue for a post mortem as investigations continue.

Owoyesigyire has urged parents to report to the police or seek professional help whenever they detect signs of depression manifesting in their children.
