The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has denied reports that it is going to undertake another load-shedding exercise in parts of the country as parts of ongoing maintenance works.
This comes after some media reports claimed that the company had released a timetable for a two-month load-shedding exercise.
Addressing the media on Wednesday afternoon, the Managing Director of ECG, Kwame Agyeman-Budu, called on the public to disregard such information, expressing regret that the claim has created discomfort anxiety for some Ghanaians.
“We have enough power to supply and we also have enough gas to support our generation plants to supply adequate power to our network,” he remarked.
He however said that ECG is embarking on a planned maintenance work that is being spearheaded by the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo).
According to him, with the last phase yet to be begin, the ECG has not concluded the details about the possible impact the maintenance work will have on power supply hence cannot indicate whether or not there will be outages.
“We are now preparing for the last phase of the upgrade works which requires engagements with stakeholders and regulators to agree on the final date to commence work. We have just started with the process of discussing with GRIDCo to know the impact of the works on power supply,” he said.
He added that households and businesses may not experience any power outages as it plans to transfer the power load to the Kasoa Bulk Supply Plant.
