Thomas Ayertey of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed confidence that the government will fully implement its flagship 24-hour economy policy before the end of its tenure.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s EBAANOSEN, hosted by Ohene Kinnah, Mr. Ayertey argued that the 24-hour economy was not the only policy that influenced Ghanaians to vote for the NDC in the 2024 general elections.
He explained that the party presented several campaign promises to the electorate, noting that voters also made their choices based on personal preferences and other policy proposals.
Mr. Ayertey further disclosed that some public institutions, including the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), passport offices and the harbour, were already operating under aspects of the 24-hour economy initiative.
He said the implementation process would be expanded gradually, expressing optimism that the policy would be fully operational before the current government’s tenure ends.
On the recent power outages, popularly known as dumsor, Mr. Ayertey attributed the disruptions to technical faults, arguing that similar incidents occurred under the previous administration led by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He maintained that the temporary power interruptions should not be interpreted as evidence of the current government’s failure to deliver on its mandate.
