President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo,s MCE nominee for Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, Ernest Arthur, has been rejected for the second time.

In the second vote, held on Wednesday, the re-nominated MCE fell short of the required two-thirds majority.

Out of the 65 Assembly members that took part in the confirmation vote, Mr. Arthur received 40 ‘Yes’ votes.

Despite losing, Nana Awuku, the Presiding Member of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, ordered a new round of voting, which the assembly members rejected.

Members of the Assembly had already voted to reject Ernest Arthur.

Thirty-one of the 65 assembly members who took part in the poll voted against him.

A nominee must receive two-thirds of the total votes cast by assembly members in order to be confirmed.

Mr. Arthur received 34 votes, or 52 percent of the total number of votes cast in that election.
