The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects for allegedly disrupting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Executive Election process at Bidieso in Obuasi.

The suspects, identified as Haruna Iddrisu alias Dole, Osei Boateng alias Nana Osei, and Charles Opoku alias Blackman, are accused of storming a polling station on July 12, 2026, armed with offensive weapons, where they allegedly disrupted the voting process, scattered ballot boxes, and threatened election officials and voters.

According to the Police, a reinforcement team was swiftly deployed to the scene and managed to arrest the suspects. One axe and one cutlass were retrieved during the operation.

The suspects were subsequently arraigned before the Bekwai Circuit Court on charges of conspiracy to commit crime and rioting with weapons.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges and were each granted bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 with two justified sureties.
