Thomas Aryetey, a member of the NDC, has welcomed the government’s declaration of a nationwide clean-up exercise, describing it as a positive step towards improving sanitation and promoting public health across the country.

According to him, the success of the initiative will depend largely on the active involvement of citizens, stressing that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s EBAANOSEN, hosted by Ohene Kennah, Mr. Aryetey said the decision to suspend Parliament’s sittings to allow Members of Parliament to return to their constituencies and participate in the exercise demonstrates the seriousness attached to the campaign.

He noted that the move should encourage communities, schools, and institutions to take ownership of the initiative and contribute to creating cleaner and healthier surroundings.

Mr. Aryetey also commended the involvement of the security services, particularly the police, and called on government to provide the needed logistics and resources to ensure the exercise achieves its intended objectives.

He stressed that sustainable improvements in sanitation can only be achieved when government agencies, private institutions, and citizens work together towards a common goal.
