About seven passengers have been reported dead in an accident on the Fomena-Dompoase road in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region.

They are said to have died on the spot in the accident, which occurred around 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, near the ECG office.

The unfortunate incident involved three vehicles: a Toyota Corolla with registration number GE 7271-24, a Sprinter bus with registration number GS 6383-20, and a VIP bus with registration number GW 8455-23.

Adom News’ Isaac K. Normanyo, who visited the scene, reported that the VIP bus was traveling from Cape Coast to Kumasi, the saloon car was heading from Fomena to Dompoase, and the Sprinter was traveling from Kumasi to Cape Coast.

The accident occurred after the Sprinter driver made a wrongful overtaking attempt while the saloon car ahead was turning into a washing bay along the stretch.

Unfortunately, the Sprinter veered off the road and became stuck in the middle, at which point a speeding VIP bus approaching from the opposite direction collided with the side of the vehicle.

The Sprinter was badly mangled and split into two due to the impact of the crash.

The passengers who died on the spot were all onboard the Sprinter, while several others sustained serious injuries.

The Obuasi MTTD Commander, speaking on Asempa FM, he confirmed that some of the bodies were dismembered.

He added that the Corolla driver fled the scene, while the VIP bus driver was the only person onboard who sustained injuries.
