Rev. Samuel Manful has described pretence as presenting oneself as a different person from who they truly are, noting that the behaviour exists in various aspects of society for different reasons.
Speaking on Nyansapo Fie on Plan B FM, hosted by Akosua Gyamfua. The guest, Rev. Samuel Manful explained that people may pretend out of shame, the desire for fame, or other personal reasons.
He noted that in some situations, what may appear to be pretence can be an application of wisdom to prevent a situation from becoming worse or to protect someone.
However, Rev. Samuel Manful cautioned that when pretence becomes a person’s way of life, it becomes sinful and can have negative consequences.
He further described pretence in churches as particularly dangerous, stressing the importance of sincerity and truthfulness in the Christian faith.
