The Presidency has dismissed what it describes as attempts to distort President John Dramani Mahama’s remarks in a circulating video, insisting that his comments have been taken out of context for partisan purposes.
In a statement shared on social media, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said “misguided elements” were deliberately misrepresenting the President’s words to achieve narrow political ends.
According to him, the President’s reference to the release of GHS150 million was specifically about funding for post-flood mitigation works.
“The President clearly speaks of the ‘release’ of GHS150 million, which was in direct reference to funds for post-flood mitigation works,” Kwakye Ofosu stated.
He explained that the President was discussing the release of the funds with the National Security Coordinator and that no other interpretation should be attached to the remarks.
Kwakye Ofosu therefore urged the public to disregard what he described as “mischievous lies” surrounding the video.
