Premier League fixtures: Arsenal open against Coventry, Liverpool at Newcastle

Coventry will begin their first Premier Leaguecampaign in 25 years with a Friday night trip to the champions, Arsenal, on 21 August. Their fellow promoted club Hull begin at home to Manchester United on the Saturday and Ipswich entertain Sunderland that day.

Other eye-catching opening weekend fixtures include Andoni Iraola taking Liverpool to Newcastle on 23 August for his debut match and Manchester City starting life after Pep Guardiola at home to Bournemouth on the same day.

Brentford host Tottenham, Everton welcome Crystal Palace and Leeds visit Nottingham Forest that weekend, while Aston Villa make the trip to Brighton before the new Chelsea manager, Xabi Alonso, begins at Fulham on Monday 24 August.

Iraola’s Anfield debut will occur on the weekend of 29 August against Nottingham Forest and a first top-flight match at Coventry’s home stadium since 2001 will be against Hull.

Arsenal go to Aston Villa on the second weekend and a week later host Chelsea. Trips to Sunderland and Brighton follow.

The weekend of 12 September brings a Manchester derby at Old Trafford and United go to Liverpool on 21 November.

City and Arsenal face each other a week later at the Emirates Stadium and Liverpool go to Everton on the same weekend.

Roberto De Zerbi is due to get his first taste of the north London derby on 5 December when Tottenham host Arsenal, who entertain United in one of the final fixtures before Christmas.

The pick of the Boxing Day schedule is a visit for Coventry’s manager, Frank Lampard, to Chelsea.

Liverpool travel to United on 23 January and a week later City host Arsenal, where Liverpool go on 6 February.

The final day of the Premier League will take place on 30 May, with Arsenal at home to Brighton, City at Sunderland and Liverpool hosting Iraola’s former club Bournemouth. Chelsea and United finish at home to Brentford and Fulham respectively.
