The Ghana Police Service has cautioned drivers and motor riders against using AirPods, earphones or any form of audio device while driving or riding.
According to the Police, the use of such devices while on the road is strictly prohibited as part of measures to reduce road accidents and improve road safety across the country.
The Service says individuals found violating the directive will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the laws of Ghana.
It further warned that offenders, upon conviction, could face a custodial sentence of up to two years.
The Police also indicated that persons who violate the directive may be detained and processed for court as required by law.
The Ghana Police Service has therefore urged all road users to comply with road traffic regulations and avoid activities that could distract them while driving or riding.
“Stay alert. Stay safe. Obey road traffic regulations,” the Service advised.
The announcement was signed by the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service.
