PAC Chairperson Steps Aside From 2024 Audit Proceedings Over Conflict Of Interest

31 Upstream Companies Yet To Pay Corporate Taxes — Deputy Finance Minister
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Chairperson of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Abena Asare, has recused herself from presiding over the committee’s 2024 proceedings, citing a potential conflict of interest.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Asare explained that her previous role as Deputy Minister of Finance in 2024 could compromise her neutrality as the committee begins examining the Auditor-General’s Report on the Public Accounts of Ghana for the year ending December 31, 2024.

The committee’s hearings will scrutinise the financial operations of key government institutions, including the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation and the National Information Technology Agency (NITA).

Her recusal is intended to ensure transparency and uphold the integrity of the committee’s oversight work.
