NPP communicator questions Mahama’s budget priorities, calls for stronger support for youth in farming

NDC’s Dela Afetor Labels Minority Leader As Weak

James Tamakloe, a communications team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tema West Constituency, has criticized former President John Mahama’s approach to youth development in the recently presented budget, arguing that more emphasis should have been placed on agriculture.

Speaking on Nkosuo Nsem, Tamakloe stated that President Mahama “should have allocated substantial funds to support farming activities,” especially for the youth who, he believes, are eager to venture into agriculture if given the necessary push.

According to him, farming remains one of the most sustainable avenues for job creation, yet the budget failed to introduce practical incentives to boost youth participation.

Tamakloe also questioned the relevance of the NDC’s flagship proposal—the 24-hour economy—particularly in relation to the agricultural sector. “Their main policy is the 24-hour economy, but I can confidently say we don’t need 24 hours in farming,” he argued, insisting that the policy does not directly address the real challenges faced by farmers.
