The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has recalled Parliament from its current recess to consider urgent parliamentary business.
In a notice dated August 12, 2026, the Speaker directed that Parliament reconvene at noon on Monday, August 24, 2026, and sit through Friday, August 28, 2026, at Parliament House in Accra.
The recall was made pursuant to Order 58(4) of the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana, which empowers the Speaker to recall the House from recess when necessary.
The notice, signed by the Speaker, stated that Parliament would be recalled “notwithstanding anything to the contrary” to consider urgent parliamentary business.
The directive brings an early end to the current recess and requires Members of Parliament to return to the House for the five-day sitting.
