NDC suspends Awutu Senya East Constituency Chairman for five months
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended the Awutu Senya East Constituency Chairman, Mr. Stephen Ofosu Agyare, from office for five months with immediate effect.

In a letter dated July 22, 2026, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) said the decision followed a petition lodged against Mr. Agyare by the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Hon. Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, together with recommendations submitted by the Central Regional Council of Elders.

According to the letter, the FEC considered the matter at its meeting on July 21, 2026, and found sufficient grounds to invoke Articles 48(4) and 48(6) of the NDC Constitution.

As a result, Mr. Agyare has been suspended from performing his duties as Constituency Chairman for a period of five months, pending further investigations.

The party also referred the matter to its National Disciplinary Committee for investigation and appropriate action in accordance with the NDC Constitution.

During the period of his suspension, Mr. Agyare has been directed to refrain from performing any functions or exercising any authority as Constituency Chairman until the matter is finally determined or otherwise directed by the party.

The letter noted that copies of the petition by the Awutu Senya East MP and the report of the Central Regional Council of Elders were attached to support the disciplinary process.
