The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three suspects allegedly linked to the activities of Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers, popularly known as “Bolle Jos,” in Ghana.
According to NACOC, the suspects are believed to have represented and facilitated the activities of Leijdekkers in Ghana.
Their arrest follows the reported seizure by French Customs of a cocaine shipment allegedly connected to a wider international drug-trafficking network.
NACOC said the three suspects are currently in its custody and are assisting investigators in establishing their alleged roles in the trafficking operation.
The Commission stressed that the arrests form part of its ongoing efforts to disrupt international drug-trafficking organisations operating through Ghana.
NACOC reaffirmed its position that Ghana will not be allowed to become a safe haven, transit point or operational base for international drug-trafficking organisations.
The Commission also said it will continue collaborating with domestic and international law-enforcement agencies to disrupt the people, finances and infrastructure supporting the illicit drug trade.
It added that the rights and legal protections of all persons under investigation would be safeguarded throughout the process.
