A 17-year-old final-year student of Mfantsipim Senior High School in Cape Coast has been confirmed dead in a suspected suicide case, according to the Central Regional Police Command.
The deceased, Emmanuel Arthur, was discovered in an uncompleted building at Ola North, a suburb of Cape Coast, after a carpenter working at the site alerted the police.
Officers who responded to the report on June 11, 2026, found the student’s remains and conducted a search of the scene. Among the items recovered were a black backpack containing examination materials, including a Geography Paper 1 mock examination paper bearing his name, two mobile phones, and other personal belongings.
Authorities at Mfantsipim Senior High School later confirmed that Emmanuel Arthur was a final-year student of the institution.
Police subsequently informed the student’s family, and the body was released to them after a pathologist at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital confirmed that it had significantly decomposed.
The uncompleted building where the remains were found was later fumigated, while the family proceeded with burial arrangements.
According to police investigations, Emmanuel Arthur died by suicide. However, the motive or circumstances surrounding the incident remain unknown, with authorities indicating that inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
