The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has told Parliament that work on the Mankraso-Tepa road project has stalled due to outstanding payments owed to the contractor.
The Minister disclosed this when he appeared before Parliament to respond to questions concerning the status of the road project.
According to him, construction began on March 10, 2020, with an initial completion deadline of September 9, 2022. The deadline was subsequently revised to December 8, 2023.
However, the contractor suspended work following delays in payments for work executed, resulting in the project remaining incomplete beyond its revised deadline.
Mr. Agbodza said efforts were underway to get the contractor back to site to complete the outstanding works.
He did not indicate a specific date for the resumption of construction.
