Kissi Agyebeng cannot boast of one successful fight against corruption – Emmanuel Wilson Jnr

“Extend Period Of Investigations To Cover 2009 – 2015” – OSP Petitioned Over Auction Of Cars |

Emmanuel Wilson Junior, the chief crusader of the Crusaders Against Corruption, has reiterated the incompetence of the Special Prosecutor, who, he claims, cannot boast even a 1% success rate in the fight against corruption during his tenure.

Citing accusations made by the former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, Mr. Wilson described the office as a white elephant: occupied by an appointee but controlled by the president and other high-ranking government officials.

According to the chief crusader, Mr. Agyabeng lacks the principles of his predecessor and operates solely at the whims and caprices of the president and executives, caring only about his salary and not his dignity.

Furthermore, he asserts that indicators are clear that under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) will serve no purpose or add any value.

To this end, Mr. Wilson believes that the OSP should be dissolved and instead become a department under the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), the Attorney General (AG), or the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to save the country from ongoing expenses that are detrimental to the nation’s coffers.

Mr. Wilson made these assertions while speaking to Akua Oteng Amponsah on Kasapa Premtobre Kase.

This follows comments by the Attorney-General (A-G) and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, that the former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, was cleared of any corruption-related offenses by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), not the A-G’s Office.

The A-G had advised EOCO not to continue the probe into the possibility of money laundering in relation to large sums found on the premises of Ms. Dapaah.

Indeed, in a letter dated January 25, 2024, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) informed EOCO that “After nearly seven months of extensive investigation by the OSP and a parallel inquiry by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States, no direct and immediate evidence of corruption has been found in the seized funds and frozen bank accounts linked to Ms. Dapaah and her associates.”
