Hot-headed partners can create fear and anxiety in children — Elorm Kupomey

Fatherhood goes beyond financial support – Elorm Kupomey

Relationship and family life advocate, Mrs. Elorm Kupomey, has cautioned couples against allowing uncontrolled anger to dominate their relationships, warning that persistent anger can create tension and negatively affect the entire household.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nyansapo Fie programme, hosted by Akosua Gyamfua, Mrs. Kupomey said while anger is a natural human emotion, constantly being angry and reacting aggressively can become destructive to relationships and marriages.

According to her, one common trait among hot-headed individuals is the tendency to believe they are always right, making it difficult for them to accept responsibility or engage in constructive conversations with their partners.

She explained that when anger becomes a regular feature of a relationship, it can gradually erode mutual respect, trust and peace in the home.

Mrs. Kupomey further highlighted the impact of such an environment on children, saying constant arguments and angry outbursts can make children timid, anxious and reluctant to express themselves.

She therefore urged parents to create a safe environment where children can openly express their feelings while teaching them from an early age how to manage and control their emotions.

The relationship advocate also cautioned parents against overindulging their children by giving them everything they demand.

She said excessive indulgence could create a sense of entitlement and make it difficult for children to develop patience, emotional maturity and an understanding that some things in life must be earned.

Mrs. Kupomey stressed that building a peaceful home requires deliberate effort from both partners, urging couples to prioritise dialogue rather than allowing anger and confrontation to determine how they resolve disagreements.

She encouraged couples to engage in open and honest conversations aimed at understanding one another rather than trying to win arguments, saying effective communication is essential to addressing underlying issues and promoting stability in relationships and families.
