The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has interdicted five officers of its Customs Division with immediate effect pending the outcome of an internal investigation into alleged procedural breaches.
In a press release issued on February 24, 2026, the Authority said the decision follows preliminary findings from an enforcement operation conducted on February 18, 2026. The operation involved a consignment of transit cargo declared for onward movement to Niger.
According to the GRA, discrepancies were detected in the documentation and compliance with established transit procedures, prompting a detailed internal review.
Initial assessments, the Authority noted, point to potential procedural lapses that require further independent and comprehensive examination. The ongoing investigation is expected to establish the full facts, including the extent of individual involvement and any departures from laid-down Customs protocols.
The GRA added that additional officers may be invited to assist with the probe where necessary. It assured that upon conclusion of the investigation, appropriate administrative action would be taken in line with applicable laws and regulations.
Management of the Authority emphasised that the interdictions reflect its commitment to protecting national revenue, supporting the growth of local industries and promoting overall economic development.
The GRA further reiterated its resolve to ensure that revenue collection and enforcement processes are carried out with the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.
