The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has safely relocated a bee swarm from Vakpo Secondary Technical School in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region after a student and a teacher were attacked and stung.
According to the GNFS, personnel from the Anfoega Fire Station responded to the incident after the swarm, which had reportedly nested in the ceiling of the girls’ dormitory for several years, was disturbed during weeding activities around the school.
The student and teacher who sustained bee stings received prompt medical attention, while firefighters successfully removed and relocated the swarm to prevent further danger to students and staff.
The GNFS has urged school authorities and the public to promptly report bee infestations, restrict access to affected areas, and avoid disturbing swarms to reduce the risk of similar incidents in the future.
