A search-and-rescue operation is underway to find a four-year-old boy who drowned in the River Adjei at Nurses Junction in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The tragic incident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, July 4, when the child, who was reportedly in the company of two older siblings aged approximately seven and nine, visited their mother, a roasted corn seller at Nurses Junction.

According to an eyewitness, Habiba Armani, the children were crossing a bridge over the river when the four-year-old mistakenly stepped onto the sloping side of the bridge. He lost his footing, fell into the fast-flowing river, and was swept away by the current before anyone could rescue him.

A search party made up of community members has begun searching for the child but is yet to achieve any positive results.
